Alan projected his shitty middle school experience onto Jake and basically taught him how to be a pathetic, lame loser. And Charlie just went along with it. If Judith found out the truth and berated the two of them, we would actually be on her side for once. Charlie and Alan really screwed the pooch (not an expression I use often) on this one. Plus, it was redundant since Jake would have had a hard time in middle school no matter how much preparation he had (unless he becomes a jock, which obviously wasn’t going to happen); there’s even a trope for this concept called Middle School Is Miserable.

Charlie being so drunk in this scene makes a lot of sense because it’s the reason why he got fired from the show to begin with and why season 8 was so short to begin with. It all went downhill after season 6 as there was even more behind the scenes drama in season 7. It’s a such it has to happen as the show wasn’t the show after Charlie Sheen left. The other show he did at the time, anger management, was very forgettable to say the least as well.
